Jenni Rivera's remains returned to So. California

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) ? Jenni Rivera has had her final homecoming.

The remains of the Mexican music superstar arrived at Long Beach Airport by private jet on Thursday evening. Her casket was then driven to a mortuary, where dozens of fans waited.

Other fans gathered outside her family's home in nearby Lakewood, where well-wishers have left a memorial of photos, candles and flowers.

Rivera and six other people died Sunday evening when a plane she was traveling in nose-dived to the ground while flying from Monterrey in northern Mexico to the central city of Toluca.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

food and drink: Great Ideas in Making a Healthy Salad - Marlin ...

An apparently healthy salad could be a calorie bomb when covered
with high-fat salad dressing. Several preferred salads contain fat and
calories. Whether or not you would like to eliminate excess fat or get a
lean body, including salad recipes with chicken in your diet will help
you reach your primary goal. Salads contain nutritional requirements and
antioxidants that your body need. The secret is to ensure you include
adequate protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates in your salad
so it's still an absolutely well-balanced meal.
Take in Lots of Vegetables
Below 25 calories in every serving, fresh veggies are an ideal add on to any kind of salad. To vary the nutrients it is best to vary your ingredients, you will be able to have a good amount of vitamin c, fiber, folic acid, antioxidants and potassium. Do avoid vegetables which are covered with mayonnaise or having been fried. Your salad recipes with chicken may include peppers, cauliflower, radish, onions, cucumbers, shredded carrots and broccoli.
Include some Brown Rice
Including brown rice in your salad makes you feel full for a longer period of time and it will add a distinct taste to it. Brown rice is high in complex carbohydrates and fiber that will improve your energy levels and gives your body the nutrients that it requires to function properly.
Include Protein Rich Foods
One of the ideal ways to make a tasteful salad which keeps you full for longer hours is to include protein rich foods like chicken breasts, bean, tuna fish, lean steak or shrimp. You may likewise include green soybeans, boiled eggs, baked tofu, or low fat cheese. By including these ingredients, you will be able to convert your salad into a healthy complete meal.
Make Use of Homemade, Raw Dressings
Rather than loading your salad with commercial sauces and dressings in saturated fat, experiment and create your own dressings. You may use additional canola oil, virgin olive oil, flax seed oil, lemon juice, avocado, yogurt or apple cider vinegar. If you prefer a cheese dressing, you may use low fat mayonnaise, crumbled blue cheese, white vinegar, garlic powder and parsley. Create a healthy homemade dressing by making a simple grapefruit and shallot dressing. This dressing provides a good amount of vitamin C and A. You can replace mayo with a yummy avocado-yogurt dressing. This tasteful Greek yogurt is best over crisp vegetables and fruits.
Include Herbs and Spices
Put some new flavors to your salads by putting herbs and spices like parsley, basil, cumin, mustard, flavored vinegar, curry, coriander and others. A tablespoon of chopped green olives or toasted nuts could be added.
A healthy eating habit provides your body the minerals and nutrients it requires to function properly. Including salad recipes with chicken, vegetables and fruits in your diet is the best way to boost your health and keep a balanced weight. If you include a salad a day in your daily meal, you will definitely be doing a good deal.

I'm a health conscious individual. But I always try to follow a very moderate approach to what I eat and drink. As I build the right habits for my diet I make sure that I'm not trying to create a habit that is only good for few month but for a life time instead. I know that success is achieved when I keep doing the right thing. I believe salads and chicken are a great choice especially when combined together.

PFT: Briggs calls Finley 'idiot' ahead of showdown

17379581_bg1-e1348067020941AP

On Thursday afternoon, Saints interim head coach Joe Vitt said that the leak of former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams? testimony to the media amounted to a ?scud,? presumably launched by the league office.? Vitt predicted that another ?scud? would be coming Thursday night.

Coincidentally (or not), a letter from former Saints assistant Mike Cerullo to former Commissioner Paul Tagliabue has been leaked to John Barr of ESPN.

?Since it became public that I told league officials about the (bounty) program, I have been vilified and subjected to slanderous lies,? Cerullo wrote.

?It has been said . . . that I ?pledged vengeance on the Saints,? and that I retracted my claims after first making them. As you know, none of that is true.? Having people tell vicious lies about me has not been easy for me and my family.?

Cerullo, whom Vitt called an ?idiot? while testifying at the recent bounty appeal hearing, allegedly was fired after multiple unexplained absences from work during the 2009 season, according both to Vitt?s testimony and a lawsuit previously filed by Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma. ??It has been said that I ?disappeared? from work during the 2009-2010 season, that my performance ratings were poor,? Cerullo wrote to Tagliabue. ?I never missed work, always received high performance ratings.?

Cerullo also took aim at those who criticized him for blowing the whistle on the bounty program; most recently, Saints quarterback Drew Brees described Cerullo and Williams as ?two guys who were fired from here because they didn?t fit the mold.?? Brees also questioned where they are ?mentally.?

?I regret that some of the players facing discipline chose to attack me and coach Williams for coming forward,? Cerullo wrote to Tagliabue.? ?But what is worse is that others, including lawyers, knowingly spoke lies and continue to do so.? You searched for and found the truth; they have never thought that truth matters.?

Since Cerullo is interested in the truth, he should consider the whole truth.? While employed by the Saints, Cerullo knowingly participated in the activities about which he now complains; he could have taken a stand at the time the events were unfolding, or he could have blown the whistle not long after he was fired.

Instead, he sent an email more than a year after the fact to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, only a couple of months before the annual hiring season began for head coaches and assistant coaches.? And Cerullo made no bones about his desire to get back to the league.

?So I have info on Saints Joe Vitt Lying to your NFL Investigators on Bounties from 2010, along with proof!!!? I was there, in the cover up meetings, with players and Joe, I love the NFL and want to work there again, but I am afraid if I tell thge [sic] truth I will never coach again in NFL, But I was fired for a situation that the Saints encourage,? Cerullo wrote in November 2011.? ?All I want is a Job back in the NFL as a QC Coach anywhere, so If talking to you jepodizes [sic] that I will have to get back to you, but The Saints are a Dirty Organization.? Contact me.?

Cerullo wanted back in, and he possibly believed that helping the league crack the ice-cold bounty case would help.? And his decision to call the Saints a ?Dirty Organization? suggests that he indeed harbors ill will for the organization that fired him.? And now he has decided to write a letter to Paul Tagliabue complaining about the fact that his motives have been questioned.

Regardless of whether he has the skills and abilities to return to the NFL, he could have used a better strategy for getting there.

92% Skyfall

All Critics (278) | Top Critics (45) | Fresh (255) | Rotten (23)

'Quantum of Solace,' was a dour, dire letdown. This picture's a substantial bounce back, and easily the best Craig Bond picture. Emotional depth and all.

Sam Mendes' 'Skyfall': sleek, slithery, sensual

The cool accomplishment of Skyfall, 23rd in the Broccoli franchise, is that it seems a necessary, rather than mandatory, addition to the year's popular culture.

Among the most ambitious imaginings of Bond to date: dark, supple, and punctuated with moments of unanticipated visual brilliance.

Mendes' approach to action is classical and elegant - no manic editing and blurry unintelligible images here - but what makes the movie special is the attention he pays his actors.

"Skyfall" is a different kind of Bond movie, one that works just fine on its own terms, but a steady diet of this might kill the franchise. One "Skyfall" is enough.

James Bond looks broken and weary, an embodiment of a traditional model of international spydom, the one premised on national borders, white-Western-wealthy entitlements, and excessive consumptions of alcohol, cars, and women.

I have no compulsion whatsoever in declaring Skyfall, in terms of cinematography, the best looking Bond film ever ... Action movies simply don't look like this - but ... this is no ordinary action movie.

Sentimental touches underscore the fun and frivolity of Bond's past while relishing the brutal landscape of the modern day super-spy.

This makes the list of truly great 007 films alongside the list of Goldfinger, Thunderball, Live And Let Die, Licence To Kill, Goldeneye and Casino Royale.

Worlds collide in this near-brilliant, meticulously refined 21st-century redefinition of James Bond.

Sam Mendes has done a magnificent job, creating both a relevant and timeless entry into the Bond canon, while deftly adding homages to the series' past.

...tough and grim but still spry ... feels like something of a rearguard action in the case of the British Empire.

Sometimes the old ways are the best. This is a theme and repeated line running throughout the new James Bond film Skyfall and never has it been more true.

Skyfall does what all of the best franchise entries do: it makes you want to see the next one immediately. Consider me (physically) shaken and (emotionally) stirred.

Not the best Bond movie ever but a very good one; a little darker but still unsettled as to what type overall it wants to be.

Too often this martini is sloppy, not smooth.

This is one of the 50-year-old series' most exciting and commandingly compelling entries. Yes, James Bond is back to being James Bond.

Seen against the ineffectual backdrop of 2008's Quantum of Solace, this is a return to form but it doesn't exceed Craig's impressive debut as Bond in 2006's Casino Royale.

Skyfall is not, of course, ''darker'' or more serious than previous Bond films, but it's more knowing about its own conventions.

Breathes fresh life into the genre.

A lot of critics are claiming this to be the best Bond film ever made; they may well be right-to some degree. It's certainly the most poignant-which, in what is ostensibly an action film, is a feather in Mendes' cap to be sure.

James Bond's 23rd official feature film gives the iconic secret agent something to stew over: an existential crisis.

Suffers from unconvincing plotting, and a third act so bad it brings the roof of the whole endeavour caving in

Even die-hard Sean Connery fans will have to admit there's another actor who can portray James Bond when they see 'Skyfall.'

Benson Henderson holds onto UFC lightweight belt with controlling win over Nate Diaz

The UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson held onto his belt with a dominating performance over Nate Diaz at the Key Arena in Seattle on Saturday night. Henderson took the five-round bout 50-43, 50-45, 50-45. Henderson landed 133 significant strikes throughout the bout.

Henderson set the tone early when he got a takedown and stood over Diaz before landing shots. Throughout the round, Henderson peppered Diaz with leg kicks. It caused damage early and throughout the bout.

Diaz showed signs of life in the third round with leg lock and heel hook submission attempts. Both ?times Henderson was able to get out. Late in the round, he dropped Diaz, who continued to try for leg submissions.

At the end of the fourth round, Henderson jumped around and showed how fresh he was while Diaz had to get his eyes checked by the fight doctor. Henderson had a big takedown in the fifth, and continued to control Diaz throughout the round.

When the fight was over, Henderson reportedly walked over towards the media on press row and shouted to them:

"I don't talk, it's in here. Do you guys get it?"

This was Henderson's second title defense. He is undefeated since joining the UFC and has a record of 17-2. His last two bouts were razor-close decisions, but with this fight, Henderson has a signature performance to show he is deserving of the UFC's shiny, gold belt.

Going into this fight, Diaz had three wins at lightweight. Two were by submission, but his submission skills didn't work on Henderson. Diaz falls to an overall record of 16-8.
