Hello,
I had two boys last year and 3 girls this year. Just as mentioned both sets of students have been very polite, willing to go with the flow and quiet.
We are enjoying conversating as much as possible, one seems to able to speak English and understand much better or is less shy. I try to draw out the other two also I do manage to get a few comments here and there.
Last night Friday, we had taco night they seemed to enjoy this and carmel flan for dessert. I have made fish, meatloaf, turkey chili, stir fry all from home and for breakfast bagels, toast and eggs, rice cereal and they have liked all of it. They haven?t been over eaters or snackers.
One has called home often and I spoke English with her father. Also last night we taught them Crazy Eight, and Go Fish card games, and they taught us a Chinese Card Game with the cards they brought us as a gift.
They also played Jenga with my 12 yr old. I left them alone for hours laughing, then we tried all kinds of snack food that they had been hesitant to eat before.
Mostly they will eat whatever I cook and we had a Chinese Buffett night in Raleigh at ?Hibacchi Grill? quite lovely. We also tried Italian night at ?Pulcinella in Durham? highly recommended, they got spag and meatballs and salads there seemed to enjoy it.
We only went shopping once and they have told me they do not like clothes much , which astounds me for teens. They do not wish to go to the movies or swimming at the pool which surprised me but that?s fine. We did watch ?Tangled? today a disney film.
This weekend they wanted to rest and use their computer.
They are also very polite, respectful and quiet. Just like last year I too am praising there attitudes, politness and eating everything on their plate without complaining.
We have shared several family photograhs, some dances, and tid bits of information about family life there and here.
I am enjoying it but a tad tired of the meal preps and all, I do not make them help me. Maybe I should next week and try out the cooking from their end idea.
I would like to attend the international festival where is it at?
