Full Description
The Company
?
Our client is a listed oil and gas exploration company focused upon East Africa. It has a 100% ownership of over 25,000 square km. of highly prospective licences situated in two locations, one of which is on-trend with a discovery by another operator.
?
Geological and geophysical work already completed includes re-interpretation of 2000 line kms of vintage 2D seismic and re-integration with ?800 km. of new 2D seismic which has revealed some two dozen leads, some of which according to an independent NI 51-101 study are in the 100 million to 200 million recoverable barrels range. The geological chances of success of ten of the leads are high by frontier exploration standards, being in the 20% to 40% range. The Gross Unrisked Petroleum Initially In Place on a P.mean basis has been estimated at some 4 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
?
The? work programme currently underway includes the completion and processing of 100 square km. of 3D seismic. It is planned to follow this with the drilling of an initial exploration well in Q1 ?2013, to a depth of? 3500-4000 metres.
?
Currentmarket capitalisation is over $30 million and it is intended to raise up to $30 million in order to fund the two planned wells and other work; the arrangement of a Joint Venture with another company might potentially form part of the programme going forward.
?
The company has a highly experienced team in-county, including geological and geophysical experts who are familiar with the local geology.
?
?
The Opportunity
?
The company is now at a transitional stage in its development, with a high-impact drilling programme to follow the G&G groundwork that has been done during the past four years. The CEO will work with the board of directors to determine and then to execute the drilling programme. The company is ambitious and the objective is to create substantial shareholder value through commercial discovery, initially within the existing portfolio, whilst managing the risks inherent in frontier exploration.
?
The majority of the company's human resources are based in East Africa, and there is flexibility regarding the location of the CEO; this will probably be London or Europe, in order to achieve suitable time zone overlap with East Africa.
?
?
The Candidate
?
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of making discoveries and creating shareholder value. Experience in East Africa is not essential, but they will need to be familiar with the types of geology characteristic of the region.
?
Leadership qualities, experience of successfully developing and guiding the management team, the establishment and maintenance of good relationships with Government and industry partners, the creation of plans which address opportunities whilst assessing and managing risk, are all important.
?
Management experience obtained in a larger company, and familiarity with modern exploration methods, would be valuable. Experience in commercial activities, for example Merger and Acquisition activity and farm-outs, raising funds and maintaining good communication and relationships with stakeholders, are essential.
?
?
The Remuneration
?
This is a key position of considerable importance to the company and this will be reflected through an attractive package including a negotiated combination of base salary, share options, bonus and executive benefits.
